WELCOME TO THE

"ALL VETERANS MEMORIAL"

Today we remembered those who served our country with a memorial service at "The Station".  The WeTaSe presented the colors, Roy Hale did was our guest speaker and did a great job.  He is a longtime veteran and spoke to all of us from the heart.  We had over 200 people in attendance which was a great crowd.  Senator Sam Brownback was in attendance.   The museum was open to everyone on a donation basis.  For many, this was the first time they had been inside "The Station".    The military exhibit was a great experience for all of them.  Click on the photo below:

A world class Veterans Memorial has been constructed adjacent to the Great Overland Station in  historic North Topeka. Professionals from Promark Design, Schwerdt Design Group, Inc., Degginger Foundry and Kelley Construction is the team that has worked this project from concept to completion. They were dedicated to ensuring the high quality of every element of the All Veterans Memorial was completed on July 28, 2005. The dedication of the All Veterans Memorial was September 30, 2006.

Railroad Heritage, Inc., over many years and with the dedication of many board members and staff, has been the driving force for the restoration of the Great Overland Station and the building of the All Veterans Memorial.  A committee of veterans has been actively involved over a period of three years in assisting the Railroad Heritage board in assuring the Memorial becomes a reality.  Furthermore, neither project could have been completed without the support of government leaders at the city, state, and national levels.

Such major projects must enjoy support not only from government, but from interested citizens and businesses that are willing to contribute needed funding.  We are grateful to the many donors who have brought the project this far, but funding needs remain and we solicit your assistance.  Your support is greatly appreciated.
